You Again Movie Review
In “You Again” the storyline is naive and as the film progresses one gets bored of the proceedings which makes it clear that the makers weren’t too keen on providing a complete comic entertainer. In the end as a viewer one gets to see is a half-baked plot with laces of comedy squeezed inside a boring package. The movie though intended to belong to the rom-com genre, it finds itself sandwiched between romance and comedy thereby hanging in the balance and not to where it intended.
The movie is about two girls who were arch rivals in their high school meet up after a longtime and are about to live together as relatives. The heroine of the plot who bore all the brunt at high school now wants to expose the real side of her arch nemesis who is going to marry her brother. When things go as expected and as we look forward to other sequence of events that would lead to an entertaining film, there comes a jolt which takes this high school rivalry a step further by intimating that the heroine’s mom and her nemesis’s aunt were sharing the same equation during their school days.
In the end all that begins well ends well concept is bluntly followed which leads to a happy ending though the grandmother part towards the end could have been avoided. Director Andy Fickman has lost a nice plot to some naive screenplay which was written by Moe Jelline. The glitches are galore in the movie which makes this “You Again” a complete disaster.
The movie has a running time of 106 minutes and barring a few moments the entire length of the film is dragging to the maximum. The movie can be watched during the weekend with a tub of popcorn but beware that you would be doing it at your own risk.
In terms of acting, the movie has Kristen Bell, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sigourney Weaver, Odette Yustman, Victor Garber, Betty White, James Wolk and Kristin Chenoweth who have given in a decent performance to lift the fate of the movie but in the end none of their performance saves it from becoming a box-office dud.
“You Again” is just plain mediocre stuff.
