Story telling in celluloid is an art and off-late barring a few most directors seem to have got the trade wrong when it comes to a solid story telling in Kollywood. Director duo Pushkar-Gayathri who have been ordinary thus far in terms of presenting a riveting story-line in their previous outings have turned a new leaf in their latest creation “Vikram Vedha”. The basic story-line is nothing new but old wine in a new bottle but what sets this film apart is the style of narration that keeps the flow interesting for major duration of the film.

R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi in the title roles have carried this film equally on their shoulders and special mention to Vijay Sethupathi for pulling off the gangster role to perfection. The mythical television series Vikram aur Vedhaal is the inspiration for the title as well as the narration style.

R Madhavan as a special task police officer is on a wild goose chase for Vijay Sethupathi faces so many ordeals before he gets his chance. But when things seem to perfectly fall in place, the unexpected twist in the tale springs up (which for a change is not predictable) that spices the climax to perfection.

Shraddha Srinath plays the female lead to Madhavan while Varalakshmi Sarathkumar play an important role from Vijay Sethupathi’s side. The supporting cast have been carefully selected and hence they fit their characters to perfection.

This film should augur well for Pushkar-Gayathri and they should start thinking more inventively to present a run-of-the-mill story-line in an interesting manner which will definitely reap rich rewards at the box-office. Vikram Vedha is a definite winner at the box-office and it should do brisk business for the week especially in the absence of any competition whatsoever in Kollywood.

“Vikram Vedha” is an entertaining action flick that would definitely satisfy its viewers.
