“Vicky Cristina Barcelona” which has won the Golden Globe award for the best musical movie (I would not consider this movie on the comedy genre as this movie is much to do with the emotions of the characters rather than any comic happenings).

Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Cristina (Scarlett Johansson) are two girls who are on a summer vacation to Barcelona from New York.Though Vicky and Cristina are good friends they do not get along in one thing and that is their perception on love.

The movie is an emotional tale amongst the main characters of the movie which has been sunk in well by the director during the characterization itself. Else it would have been very difficult to have his cast come out with a performance that has taken the viewer by surprise.

When the girls are out in a barcelona art gallery they get to know an uninteresting personality in Juan Antonio (Javier Bardem) who then comes forward to accompany these two lovely girls for a weekend to Oveido a small spanish town.Though sex seems to be in the minds of Juan Antonio and Cristina, Vicky agrees to accompany them only for the safety of her friend Cristina.

Once they reach the town of Oveido in the all important night all things goes for a toss when Cristina falls sick owing to an ulcer she has. The mantle of taking care of her falls with Vicky and she sees that she recovers in time to go back to barcelona.

The trio once in barcelona keep up with their own lives till a day when Antonio calls Cristina for a drive. As time goes by Cristina falls in love with Antonio who has been divorced from his ex-wife Maria Elena (Penelope Cruz). The pair gel along nicely leading a spanish life style when Maria comes back into Antonio’s life.

In the mean time Vicky gets married to her fiancee Doug (Chris Messina) and she leads a contempt life. How fate plays in all the four characters life is being told in the rest of the movie. The scenic beauty of spain is a visual treat to watch not to forget the soothing spanish music.

Vicky Cristina Barcelona is a movie which has won rave reviews is sure to make an impact amongst the mature audiences.
