Rajapattai Movie Review

Director Suseendran after his successful attempts on off-beat films like “Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu”, “Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai” and his commercial venture in “Naan Mahaan Alla”,  rides on another commercial venture with a theme that has its story line centered around the land grabbing mafia. However, much to the disappointment of the audience this “Rajapattai” is an utter disaster to say the least. National Award winning actor Vikram has to ponder on why he on the first place chose to do this film. The only reason that comes to the mind is that probably he had accepted to do this film banking on the credentials of the director.

Anal Murugan (Vikram) is an aspiring actor who wants to make it big in the tinsel world as a villain. To reach his goal, he currently plays the role of a gym boy (the hefty side kicks of the main villain). Things go smoothly until Anal Murugan crosses path with a band of goondas who are behind an old man Dakshinamurthy (K Vishwanath) on the behest of his son who wants to sell a prime property which is in his father’s name.

The person who wants to buy the property is a local politician with a nick name “Akka” (Sana). Understanding the gravity of the situation, Murugan gives shelter to Dakshinamurthy and safeguards him from the bad guys. In the meanwhile, there is also the entry of Darshini (Deekshah Seth) who plays the love interest of Murugan.

In the end, does the prime property gets saved by Murugan from reaching the bad hands or not is being told in the most sluggish manner possible. The story written by Seenu has enough spice which apparently has not been used in the right proposition by director Suseendran.

In terms of acting, this performance of Vikram can be rated as the worst one of his career. There is no acting per se that has been displayed by Vikram. Deeksha Seth is an absolute waste and her role is so poorly crafted. K Vishwanath comparatively has done a good job. The star performer is undoubtedly the acting of Sana who steals the show with her venomous acting.

Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is nothing more than mediocre. Other supporting departments like Art and Editing fails to impress in spite of some reputed names in the industry working for the film. The movie has a running time of 130 minutes and is sure to sink without a trace at the box-office.

“Rajapattai” is an absolute waste of time and money.
