Kahaani Movie Review
Vidya Balan after an award wining performance in “The Dirty Picture” has once again proved her mettle with another riveting performance in the role of a seven months pregnant woman arriving at Kolkata in search of her missing husband. The entire movie revolves around the character of Vidya Bagchi (Vidya Balan) and the way she goes about in pursuit of her missing husband.
The main success factor of the film is the way the scenes unfold with a proper emphasis on logic and reality. For instance, Vidya on landing from London in Kolkata first goes to the police station to give a missing person complaint which on the true sense is so natural that a woman would do on coming searching for her husband.
Rana (Parambrata Chatterjee) a new recruit in the Kolkata police department helps Vidya in the search and he becomes a confused man as the mystery over Vidya’s husband Arnab Bagchi gets even more complicated. Vidya on the other hand leaving no stone unturned gets into a territory which brings into the picture the Asst. IB head Mr. Khan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui).
Then what catches the audience is the shocking turn of events which sets the ball rolling for some intriguing scenes ahead. In the end when Vidya is close to unravel the mystery behind her missing husband, the climax is a perfect icing on the cake with the dramatic twist that takes place in the last few minutes of this “Kahaani”.
The movie has a running time of 125 minutes and with a steady pace throughout, it is a joy to watch. Director Sujoy Gosh has clearly won over the hearts of the viewers hands down.
In terms of acting, Vidya has once again displayed her exemplary acting abilities. Parambata Chatterjee comes next followed by Nawazuddin siddiqui. Saswata Chatterjee who comes in the role of a contract killer is another person who has his moments in the film. With such powerful performances and a neat storyline, “Kahaani” is sure to have a decent run at the box-office.
“Kahaani” a story worth watching.
